WHILE THE WORLD WAITED
2020
ITALY
A dream long planned came true:
Yone traveled to Europe.
Just days after arriving in Italy,
the world went into lockdown.
Borders closed, streets emptied,
and uncertainty became everyday life.
Far from home, with no answers
and no idea how long it would last,
painting became a way to transform
unspoken feelings into images.
These four works capture an
emotional journey lived during
that suspended time.

“When the future disappears, fear fills the silence.”
Overview
Created during the first weeks of the 2020 lockdown in Italy, Fear represents the emotional impact of facing an uncertain future without answers.
The blindfold symbolizes the inability to see what lies ahead, while the flowing crimson evokes anxiety, vulnerability, and the emotional weight carried during those first days of isolation. Resting above, a delicate crown of foliage remains alive—a quiet reminder that nature continues its cycle even when human life seems suspended.
As the opening chapter of While the World Waited, this work marks the beginning of an emotional journey that moves from uncertainty toward resilience and hope.
